Fighters Never Quit, Quitters Never Fight! | US Muaythai Open ’24 Recap
What a weekend it was at the US Muaythai Open 2024! Our journey began with eight determined athletes entering the fight camp. Unfortunately, due to injuries, we had to leave two behind. Nevertheless, our team of six traveled to Scottsdale, AZ, ready to give it their all.
The tournament, hosted at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort, saw an impressive turnout with 697 registered athletes from 70 different teams. The promotion team did an outstanding job organizing the event, from weigh-ins to the fights themselves.
The Heart of a Fighter
As a coach, my primary ask from our athletes is to give everything they have in the ring. The outcome, whether a win or a loss, is secondary to the effort and heart they display. It's about leaving everything in the ring, and I couldn't be prouder of our team for doing just that. Every single fight was a display of determination and tenacity, with each athlete battling to the last second of every round.
Our Champions and Warriors
Our team's performance was nothing short of spectacular. Here are the standout results:
• Carlos Campos (18-39 years, Male, 0-3 fights, 195.1-200.0lb) – Champion
• Eric Gonzales (18-39 years, Male, 0-3 fights, 165.1-170.0lb) – Champion
• Kyle Coronado (18-39 years, Male, +10 fights, 145.1-150.0lb) – Silver Medalist
• Marco Valtazar (18-39 years, Male, 0-3 fights, 135.1-140.0lb) – Silver Medalist
• Sofia Bruno (15-17 years, Female, 0-3 fights, 150.1-155.0lb) – Bronze Medalist
• Brandon Castro (18-39 years, Male, 0-3 fights, +200.1lb) – Bronze Medalist
Team Achievement
Out of the 70 teams competing, All American MMA placed 8th overall – a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes. This achievement highlights not only their individual successes but also the strength and unity of our team.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this tournament, it's clear that our fighters embody the spirit of perseverance and resilience. They have shown that fighters never quit and quitters never fight. With this momentum, we look forward to future competitions, confident in the knowledge that our athletes will continue to bring their best to the ring.
